To Whom It May Concern,

I am interested in applying for a Technology Leadership position within your school district, for the upcoming school year. As a Michigan State University graduate, I have gained the experience to become a highly qualified candidate through three years of teaching Second Grade in various school districts as well as earning my Master’s of the Arts in Educational Technology.

I believe the qualities I gained during my teaching experiences will make me a great addition to your district. I have worked with children of all ability levels and differentiated lessons to meet their individual needs. Each lesson plan involved careful consideration of how technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge come together. In my classroom, technology was used as a tool for increasing both student engagement and achievement. By integrating special programs such as Project Based Learning to teach economics, my students were able to collaborate to create a business product or service and market it to their peers. They were taught to think critically, creatively, and innovatively while developing strong communication skills all needed to succeed in a 21st Century working environment. Students not only had fun completing this project, but their Mathematics and Social Studies test scores increased in comparison to previous years. I would like the opportunity to express how these personal experiences can become a shared vision to use technology as a purposeful tool to increase student achievement with other colleagues and help my colleagues discover the same benefits I have.

In addition to my professional experiences, my unique personal experiences have also given me a new perspective on the power of using technology in education. During my undergraduate years, I studied abroad in the Netherlands. While in Europe, I observed classrooms and communicated with teachers and administrative leaders. It was amazing to see how refugee students who came in at all different ages and levels were all able to excel using computer games and programs. These personalized learning programs allowed students to move at their own pace and utilize visuals in order to help them learn. I have adapted that approach to help my ESL students overcome language barriers in my own classroom.

Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing back from you soon. It would be an honor to be a part of your team.

Sincerely,

Lindsay B. Achtman
